This week was a good week. My class started off great and we are learning many new things...my students are really struggling with rhyming and blending sounds into words, but I see them slowly understanding the concept each day. Pretty soon, I am sure, they will get it. I also have continued to try and get our home and my classroom back in order. Rick and I have continued to enjoy each other and spend time with our wonderful friends! Enjoy the pics for this week!!!
Rick and I spend all of our holidays down south with our family, so I make sure to decorate for Christmas VERY early...as in the day after Halloween. :) I like to enjoy the lights and the bright colors of the season. Some people call me crazy, but I love it. Last night and this morning, Rick and I packed up all of the decor and it is ready to go back into storage...our house looks rather plain now if you ask me.

Rick loves tennis shoes, particularly Nike. He has loved "the swoosh" his whole life. Back in October, I gave him a gift card for NikeTown to purchase a new pair of shoes and he finally used it today while he was in the bay. The best part about them is that they are black....and pink. I love that my hubby can rock the color pink and defy all of the so-called "gender rules." And might I add that he looks dang good in them!

We spent our evening with our dear friends, Blake and Becky. For two years now we have made it a point to get together every Tuesday night. It began with American Idol and now we have moved on to Parenthood...I love it that our friendship is so easy and relaxed. We can show up in our sweats and PJ's (and no makeup) and never feel awkward. Rick and I are blessed to have these two in our lives. To add even more fun, little "J" has joined our group (and hopefully more little ones will join soon). This was a quick shot before he went to bed...love him so much!

I received a call from my good friend Amber that she would be in town today for a quick trip. She lives four hours away so I do not get to see her as much as I would like. Rick and I were able to meet up with her and her parents for dinner. We enjoyed catching up! Amber, move back down here so I can see you more often!!! :)
I can't stand piles...especially piles of paper. Unfortunately, my classroom always has them. On my desk, on the task table, in the to-do pile, in the to-file pile...ugh. Today, I grabbed my biggest pile of papers, sorted through them, filed them, and now there is one less ugly stack of papers to look at. As for the
others...they will have to wait for another day.

My book area in my classroom is one of my favorite spots, but it is very difficult to keep organized. The kids just can't seem to get what it means to "put the book back where you found it." Today I took this picture and I plan on printing it out and posting it in our book area to show the students what it is supposed to look like. Will it work? We shall see...
Saturday was a fun day. Rick and I had a nice morning together and went to the movies to see "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." I just finished the book in December and was a little nervous about seeing the movie due to the content, but it was VERY good. Later that evening I got together with friends to celebrate Becky's birthday! We went to The Yard House to celebrate and then walked around the Fountains (an outdoor mall). There is an adorable accessories store called "Charming Charlie." We felt like teenagers again trying on silly hats and glasses. What a wonderful night!
