Mom's 50th Birthday!!!

My beautiful mom celebrated her 50th birthday in December! The best part was that we were all able to celebrate it together as a family. The fun part, was that my mom had no idea that we would be down there! Here is the scoop:

Early in October, my dad, sister, and I began brainstorming about what we could do that would be very special...something she would not forget. We decided to rent a beach house in Oceanside for the weekend as well as spoil her with a shopping getaway, Limo ride to Old Town for dinner, and then a small Brunch on Sunday. But, remember, my mom had no idea...so planning these events was not the easiest thing.

Once the weekend arrived, Rick and I flew into Los Angeles where Mandy and Josh picked us up. Next stop was the grocery store and Party city to stock up for the weekend. Once we finished our shopping we headed to the beach house to set up for the surprise. While we were preparing, my dad told my mom to pack up for the weekend. She had thought that they were going away alone for the weekend. On the way, my dad stopped at the beach and told my mom he wanted to take a walk. He brought a blanket so that they could sit and watch the sunset.

All of us kids were on the balcony waiting for them to walk by. Once we saw them we grabbed our horns, balloons, and signs and got ready to scream surprise. We waited a little bit so that my mom and dad could sit down and enjoy the sunset. It was so funny watching them sit and talk right in front of the house!!! And my mom had no idea we were right behind her. Once the sun set, we stood up on the balcony and screamed "Surprise Mama!" "Happy Birthday!" "Surprise!" She looked up at us and at first was confused, however, when she figured out that it was her kids, she started crying! She was soooooo happy!!!

The rest of the weekend we hung out, played Rockband as a family, read, relaxed, went to the mall to buy my mom a new outfit, took a Limo down to Old Town for Mexican food, and celebrated a small birthday brunch with a few other friends. It was so good to see my mom so surprised, happy, and so loved! She deserves so much! I hope she never forgets that weekend...I know I won't. It was perfect!
